Join us in the heart of Eastern Mongolia for a journey that transcends boundaries, embraces the spirit of giving, and leaves an indelible mark on both your soul and the fight against cancer. Together, let's ride for a cause, pedal for hope, and make a difference! This self-supported ride includes transportation from Ulaanbaatar to the starting point in Choibalsan – the provincial capital of Dornod province of Eastern Mongolia. MapProgress facilitates tracking, ensuring the safety of riders and enabling followers at home to monitor their progress along the route. [insert link]. Hardcore bike packers are welcome, but the check point cut offs allow time for 70km per day riders to enjoy the beauty of the Mongolian countryside. Route 1013km

Riders are responsible for:

1.    Must have a spot tracker device to monitor progress on MapProgress

2.    Must be totally self-supported from start of the ride to the finish

3.    Must register arrival at checkpoints with a selfie taken and sent to info@cycleomongolia.com

4.    Arrival at the check points by the cut off time – if not, you're on your own

5.    Own travel and accommodation at the beginning and the end of the ride

Itinerary

  • 8 June - Transport to Choibalsan

    Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, is a bustling metropolis that seamlessly blends modernity with rich cultural heritage. Nestled between rolling hills, the city is a vibrant hub where ancient traditions meet contemporary lifestyles. At your own convenience, explore its dynamic markets, visit historic sites like the Gandan Monastery, and witness the unique mixture of nomadic roots and urban development in this captivating city. Today, we meet at Bayangol Hotel's (47.91257000326333, 106.91412876249079) parking lot at 07:00 AM and will be transported to Choibalsan City in eastern Mongolia where we will start our journey.

  • 9 June - Bike assembly & preparation day

    Eastern Mongolia offers a unique and challenging landscape for bike-packers, providing a mix of diverse terrains and breathtaking scenery. In this region, participants can expect an adventure that combines vast steppes, rugged mountains, and pristine wilderness. Today we assemble our bikes and prepare for the following days' expedition.

  • 10 June - Challenge Start

    Today, participants embark on a 1000 km cycling journey that traverses vast steppes, rugged mountains, and serene wilderness. The region is rich in wildlife, and cyclists might come across wild horses, gazelles, and various bird species. The vastness of the landscape allows for a unique wildlife experience while on the bike-packing route.

  • First Checkpoint Cutoff - 15 June

    The first few days until the first checkpoint, you will ride across a region that is characterized by expansive grassy steppes that stretch as far as the eye can see. Cyclists will traverse flat and rolling terrain, providing an opportunity to build speed and cover long distances.   • Second Checkpoint Cutoff - 20 June

    Northern region of Eastern Mongolia is home to the Khentii Mountains, a range of rugged and challenging terrain. Cyclists will face steep ascents and thrilling descents, with the reward of panoramic views from the mountain ridges. The landscape features rivers and streams that participants will need to navigate, adding an element of adventure. Some river crossings may be shallow and easily passable, while others are greater challenge.   • Third Checkpoint Cutoff and the End of Race - 25 June

    Pedaling through the birthplace of Chinggis Khaan in Eastern Mongolia is a journey through the heart of Mongolian history. The Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Statue Complex, located near Ulaanbaatar, stands as a majestic tribute to Mongol's legendary Emperor, Chinggis Khaan. Dominating the landscape, the colossal statue of the Emperor on horseback, reaching a height of 40 meters, is a symbol of the nation's nomadic heritage and historical prowess. Visitors can ascend to the horse's head to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, while the complex itself offers an immersive experience into Mongolian history and culture.
